West Monroe police Wednesday arrested Jamarvin K. Jackson, 19, 106 Contempo Ave. apt. 48, West Monroe in connection with the Tuesday death of 60-year-old Ndeye Ngone Seck. He will be booked at Ouachita Correctional Center later this afternoon and charged with negligent homicide, obliteration of a firearm serial number and violation of a protective order. Maj. Chris Sasser said that during interviews of residents of Contempo Apartments, located on the other side of a wooded area from the apartment complex at 106 Parkwest Drive where Seck was killed, Jackson initially denied any knowledge of the incident but later recanted and said he had discharged the firearm accidentally while standing on the balcony of the Contempo Apartment complex.
Sasser said police do not anticipate making any more arrests in the case, but the investigation is ongoing.
Police said the victim, Seck, had a Michigan driver’s license.
Sasser said police and emergency medical personnel went to the apartment at 10:24 a.m. Tuesday after receiving a call about a possible cardiac arrest.
Sasser said Seck was found by her niece.
The niece called emergency personnel after she could not rouse Seck, Sasser said.
Seck's body was sent to Little Rock, Ark., for an autopsy.
A neighbor of Seck said she moved into the complex a few months ago. |
